Bruce Gueswel

CoreTen Steel

6’x7’x3’

I have been playing with angular abstraction in sculpture for years. Initially, I worked in clay, and then wax, where hot knives could make flatter planes. Now, I use computer technology to accurately map and unfold patterns that are cut with CNC laser machines, allowing me to fold and weld “metal origami.” This bison was a rejected proposal that I always wanted to see life–size, and this summer he finally came to be.
