CAMP

$350.00
sold out

Tom Hill

Mixed media construction with wood burning

29”x 20”x 3”

In Camp, I explore the word and concept as a two-sided coin. The first side involves a queer masculinity located in historic logging camps in the Pacific Northwest, suggesting sexual activity that occurs between men working and living in remote all-male settings. The second side of the coin offers the word camp as old-school gay jargon that has been used to amplify a gay sensibility through a heightened theatricality, artificiality, and affectation.
