Western climate crisis -drought, beetle damage ravaging pine stands and extended higher temperatures - consciously and subconsciously terrorizes. Each summer, immense acreage, incinerated at multiple locations , states away or local, has sent weeks of thick yellow haze and toxic odors onto the high altitude lands of Wyoming. At my home above 7000’, a cow standing at property line in the sage ,30 feet away , was barely visible. Herds had eye infections and severe nose bleeds. Sage integral to the west combusts explosively. This piece ,begun during the stress of smoke, responds in part to my subconscious terror.
