ENGULFED Backbone

Backbone

$3,200.00
sold out

Grant Pound

acrylic on panel

42" x 36" x 1.5"

These works came out of a long series of years with massive wildfires in Colorado. Much of the areas I enjoy were destroyed and will not grow back in my lifetime. Miners Cabin is about the aftermath of a fire. The cabin no longer exists. just the smoke. Purgatory is an abstracted hillside with leaves of aspens burning, and spot fires in the background. It is also the name of an area I love north of Durango. Backbone is an abstract landscape with the colors of fire. In the 2020 Cameron Peak fire we watched the flames above Devils Backbone from our home. Then we left.
